  • Bocuse d'Or competition or the Culinary Olympics | Kulinarinė Studija Baker Street
    d Or is one of the most prestigious cooking competitions in the world This event is often compared to the Olympics although traditionally the International Exhibition of Culinary Art held in Germany is titled the Culinary Olympics In 1983 for the first time and exhibition where professional chefs showcased their creations to other professionals was held in Lyon Paul Bocuse appointed the president of this exhibition proposed to hold a small competitions in which chefs had to demonstrate their skills in front of the audience and give a live performance while creating their culinary masterpieces Several gastronomy competitions already existed in the world at the time however none of them included live cooking in front of the attending audience Bocuse d Or championship has 24 countries participating in it Each country s team consists of 2 chefs and an assistant who has to be under 22 years of age Teams are given 5 hours 35 minutes to prepare a meat dish and a fish dish The preparation process takes place in open kitchens lined up next to each other in front of the team of judges and the audience of the championship Maximum number of spectators is 1000 An important condition is that all the ingredients used in the championship cannot be prepared in advance It is even forbidden to peel the garlic before the time for preparation begins The team of judges includes 24 honorable members who evaluate the dishes according to these criteria presentation standard technical skills of the team cooking as process precision creativity and visual aesthetics Judges are divided into 2 teams of 12 members and each of these teams gets to evaluate fish or meat dishes Quality of the dish determines 2 3 of the final score max 40 points and presentation determines 1 3
